Climbing Programs Lead

Asana Climbing Gym, Boise, Idaho

Position Type: Part-Time

Position Summary

The Climbing Programs Lead is responsible for aligning all climbing programs at Asana Climbing Gym (ACG) with the organization’s business goals and core values. This individual will be the driving force behind developing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality youth and adult climbing programs that engage participants, foster skill development, and build community. Working closely with the management team and climbing instructors, the Programs Lead will ensure accountability, consistency, and ongoing improvement in program delivery and curriculum development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for climbing, strong leadership abilities, and excellent communication and organizational skills. They will focus on creating a safe, welcoming, and growth-oriented environment while inspiring a team of instructors and coaches to embody ACG’s vision and values.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Oversight and Development

  • Curriculum Design: Develop, organize, and update climbing curricula for youth and adult programs, including beginner and intermediate classes, camps, and clinics.
  • Program Evaluation: Track and analyze program metrics, such as participation rates, customer feedback, and skill progression, to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Community Engagement: Ensure climbing programs foster a sense of belonging and align with the gym's mission to build a thriving community.
  • Marketing: Coordinate with our marketing manager to drive engagement and sales.

Staff Management and Development

  • Instructor Training: Plan and deliver regular training sessions for instructors and coaches to improve technical knowledge, teaching methods, and safety protocols.
  • Accountability: Hold instructors accountable for delivering high-quality programming and embodying ACG’s values.
  • Mentorship: Act as a role model and mentor for instructors and coaches, encouraging their personal and professional growth.

Communication and Coordination

  • Internal Communication: Collaborate with management to align programs with gym-wide goals and initiatives.
  • Customer Communication: Respond to parent and participant inquiries regarding programs, schedules, and goals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Scheduling: Oversee the scheduling of classes, coaches, and program events to ensure seamless operation and coverage.

Safety and Compliance

  • Risk Management: Ensure all programs meet ACG’s safety standards, including proper use of equipment and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Incident Management: Handle any incidents or conflicts that arise in a calm, professional manner, documenting and escalating when necessary.

Qualifications/Skills:

Climbing and Coaching Expertise

  • Climbing Ability: Medium-level climbing skills (around V4) and a passion for climbing.
  • Teaching Proficiency: A solid understanding of beginner and intermediate climbing techniques and the ability to accurately teach these skills.
  • Leadership in Coaching: Experience leading or coaching climbing programs with kids and/or adults is preferred.

Communication and Leadership

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication with kids, parents, and co-workers, both in person and via email.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Proven ability to articulate and connect team members to ACG’s vision and values for climbing programs.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Displays empathy, patience, and non-reactiveness when working with children, parents, and staff.

Organizational Skills

  • Task Management: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Goal Orientation: A results-driven mindset, striving to meet program goals and continuously improve.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in program planning, scheduling, and communication.

Hours and Compensation:

  • Hours: 10-20 hours per week, depending on program needs and seasonality.
  • Compensation: $15- $20/hour (to be determined based on experience).

Reporting Structure:

The Climbing Programs Lead will report to the General Manager and work collaboratively with the entire ACG team to achieve program goals.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience as a climbing instructor, coach, or program coordinator.
  • Familiarity with climbing industry software or tools for scheduling and program management.
  • Certifications in climbing instruction, coaching, or safety.

Front Desk Operations Manager

Location: Asana Climbing Gym – Boise, ID
Reports To: Director
Supervises: Front Desk Staff, Front Desk Specialists, and Coaches 

Position Summary

The Operational Manager (OM) is a core member of Asana’s leadership team, responsible for ensuring an exceptional customer experience, fostering a high-performing front desk team, and overseeing the gym’s staff training framework and risk management systems. Working collaboratively with the Director, Facilities Manager, and Marketing Manager, the OM helps build and implement systems that support Asana’s mission and long-term success.

This position is highly people-oriented, with a focus on hiring, developing, and retaining great staff, while implementing clear policies and procedures to ensure consistency, professionalism, and member satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Front Desk Team and Drive Exceptional Customer Experience

  • Build, coach, and evaluate a high-performing Front Desk team that embodies Asana’s mission and values.
  • Identify potential leaders, mentor them into specialist roles (e.g., Shift Leads, Merchandiser), and ensure role clarity.
  • Monitor and improve daily operations at the front desk, bar, and check-in areas to ensure seamless, welcoming, and safe experiences for members and guests.
  • Provide timely coaching and corrective feedback when expectations are not being met.

Staff Hiring, Training, and Development

  • Oversee the entire Front Desk hiring funnel: interview screening, onboarding, training, advancement, and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement consistent training modules for customer service, customer experience, marketing, beautification, and risk management in collaboration with department leads.
  • Lead quarterly training sessions and coordinate with other department heads for cross-training.
  • Facilitate performance reviews and track key staff metrics (retention, satisfaction, advancement).

Risk Management

  • Ensure that Asana’s risk management policies and procedures are followed by Front Desk staff.
  • Maintain all required certifications, contracts, and staff licensing.
  • Respond to member incidents or staff concerns with professionalism and documentation.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and compliance needs.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Manage weekly schedules for Front Desk, coaching, instruction, events, staff meetings, group bookings, and bar staff to align labor with demand.
  • Run payroll on a biweekly basis with attention to accuracy and reporting.
  • Maintain and update Rock Gym Pro offerings (memberships, classes, etc.).
  • Manage front desk paperwork, including W-9s, I-9s, certifications, and contracts.
  • Monitor shared email inboxes (e.g., "inquiry", "donations", and “youth programs”) and ensure timely responses.
  • Oversee our Donations Specialist in the filtering and logging of all donations for tax purposes and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete cash deposits.
  • Oversees Barsana performance which includes: product adjustment; alcohol licensing renewal; point of contact with Hayden Beverage to ensure we have products on hand.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Lead regular Front Desk meetings and policy discussions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Director and other managers.
  • Remain available on Slack for after-hours updates or incident management.

Community & Culture Building

  • Support and participate in gym events, programs, and competitions.
  • Collaborate on event planning and staff coordination.
  • Represent Asana’s brand through personal conduct, professionalism, and community engagement.
  • Work proactively to build relationships that support business partnerships and member retention.

Compensation & Additional Info

  • Full-time, salaried position (based on qualifications and full job scope).
  • ACG desires this position combining with our JD: Programs Lead. ACG aims at improving program revenue through this combination.
  • Includes standard Asana employee benefits (PTO, Pro Deals, etc.).
  • Some evening/weekend work expected for events and staff coverage.
  • On-site, in-person role with a consistent gym presence required.

Cleaning Specialist
Location: Boise, ID
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00–10:00 PM (15 hours per week)
Compensation: $15 per hour starting wage

Overview
Asana Climbing Gym is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Specialist to keep our space clean, safe, and welcoming for all climbers. We have embarked on a journey to provide the best climbing experience possible. Cleaning and beautification is a big part of our vision. We want to provide our customers with an exceptional experience every time they enter our facility. You will be vital to our daily operations and community experience, with a primary focus on cleaning high-traffic areas such as climbing pads, locker rooms, and common spaces.

This role offers the opportunity to grow into a Beautification Specialist position—a role focused more on aesthetic improvements and finding ways to heighten the customer experience. For more about the Beautification position, see JD: Beautification Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Vacuum climbing pads daily
  • Clean and mop locker rooms and restrooms daily
  • Wipe down fitness equipment, benches, cubbies, and high surfaces daily
  • Sweep and mop all walkways, seating areas, and the mezzanine daily
  • Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the gym daily
  • Monitor and restock soap, paper towels, and other restroom supplies daily
  • Rotate deeper cleaning tasks delegated by Facilities Manager weekly

     

Daily Shift Schedule (Mon–Fri, 7:00–10:30 PM)

  • 7:00–7:10 PM – Clock in, check supplies, set up.
  • 7:10–7:40 PM – Clean locker rooms and restrooms.
  • 7:40–8:40 PM – Clean common areas, seating, cubbies, tables, and the mezzanine.
  • 8:40–9:40 PM – Vacuum climbing areas and pads.
  • 9:40–10:30 PM – Final sweep and mop of locker rooms.

     

Requirements

  • Able to work independently and stay focused on tasks.
  • Comfortable with physical labor.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and cleanliness standards.

Asana began in Boise in 1999 in our founder's garage as a manufacturing company producing “Everything Bouldering”. The company grew and became the market leader in custom padding systems for climbing gyms across the US. In 2013, the company incorporated the Asana Climbing Gym to become a core part of the Treasure Valley climbing commmunity. Today, the gym is ever evolving as we are the premiere facility offering everything bouldering.
