Yoga/Aerial

General Introduction

At Asana, we want to offer other like-minded activities and classes that bring many of the same parallel challenges as climbing does through moving meditation and community, such as Yoga and Aerial Arts. Whether you're looking to compliment your climbing routine or simply want to experience these classes alone, we can accommodate you. Click below to find out more information for each. All of these classes are included with membership!

Booking/registration is required for all participants in order to guarantee your spot as classes do fill up! You may book any of the classes below by following the booking links in each description.

Meet Your Instructor

Cosmic

Cosmic has been drawing inspiration from movement since she was little. She spent 18 years studying and performing classical ballet, and modern dance. After injuring herself in 2010, Cosmic was searching for an alternative and restorative way to move her body. That's when she found Yoga. What started as just a physical practice soon turned into a journey for life. Yoga is good for the body, but this path has shown her what it can do to anchor the mind and restore the soul. In 2014, she completed her 200 hour RYT certification in Boulder, CO. She later completed her Prenatal Yoga Teacher certification with Yo Mama, and has been privileged to assist the Devi Yoga Women's 200 hour TT. Off the mat, you'll find Cosmic balancing on her slackline, playing with her dog or wearing silly costumes with friends.

Yoga Motion with Adrie

Empower yourself through the rich motion of this fun vinyasa flow. Inspired by timeless rhythmic beats, this class will help awaken all of the senses. While focusing on connecting breath with movement, Adrie encourages her students to express and accept their truest form and own individual practice. While allowing space and freedom to move and groove, proper technique is still a main focal point in order to build foundational skills off of each week. This class is for all levels, shapes and sizes! I will only ask of you to arrive with an open mind, heart and willingness to explore.

Meet Your Instructor

Adrie Somalinog

Discovering yoga for the first time 10 years ago, Adrie experienced a smooth yet challenging transition to the practice. Years of dance background had prepared her to excel in Hot yoga, Hatha and Vinyasa, but after undergoing multiple knee surgeries, rehabilitation became a long and arduous process not only physically but mentally. While learning about the miraculous connection between mind and body, Adrie became certified as a licensed massage therapist to expand her knowledge on her growing admiration for the body. Since then, it has been her mission to continue her own internal and external healing, while supporting others to do the same. Adrie finally became a 200hr RYT early this year, and is quite familiar leading a class. Teaching dance for several years has given her the experience of encouraging one's own creative expression, and facilitates such to flow through authentic movement to the uplifting beats of her class.

Feel Good Flow with Sherika

In this class, we will connect with our own individual bodies by engaging deeply with the senses in order to create mindful and sustainable movement that anyone of any fitness level can do. After connecting with our breath and sensual awareness, we will warm our bodies slowly and methodically, building to a smooth and dynamic flow before cooling down to a restorative Shavasana.

We will use a variety of practices in this class to get into our bodies - everything from Vinyasa, Yin, & Restorative Yoga as the foundation of the flow - to Qi Gong, Functional Fitness, Breathwork, Balance & Mobility exercises to support our joints, muscle elasticity as well as mental and emotional health.

You are encouraged in this class to be your own best authority and you can choose to follow the flow provided, or tune into your own body and adapt as needed.

Straps

Aerial Straps - All Levels Instruction

Aerial straps are two straps attached to swivels, a rigging plate, and a single rig point. This configuration allows aerialists to perform several twists, rolls, and various body positions requiring a great deal of strength and precision. In this course, students will learn standard conditioning movements that build a solid foundation for straps like straight arm inversions, skin the cats, nutcrackers, and meat-hooks.

Advanced students will learn the straps conditioning essentials while also exploring higher level strength moves such as back flags, levers, and muscle-ups. All of which are tailored to the student's pace and level. The aerial straps discipline requires a good deal of strength and primarily targets the shoulders and upper body. The course will help to increase your strength overall and serves as a great cross-training apparatus for any aerial discipline or climbing in general.
